Lucid NYC

If you're in the city tonight (Wed, 1/13) don't miss this Fred Beebe (PZ '08) curated event with Andy Bichlbaum of the Yes Men recently returned from the Copenhagen conference.

by Clinton Attaway (PZ '10)

In flight—west

Eight hours in,
in the wrong direction.
It has been soft and skyless,
a sense of not moving or ending.
But this day came up behind me,
and below—

I want to know what you fear, so I tell of me dying—the lakes so deep
they cannot freeze—where I was born.
You see why I speak, but you carry me to the ocean.
Beneath all that crashing, this terror
you say
is tender and yours; that you would wait until the moon draws you in
like the tide.
With the salt I taste
defiance on you, letting me in
on what you will not fear.

—closer now, and farther,
your Atlantic gives way to rises
and faults, familiar and unnamed,
but you showed me the words.
We truly know something, you and others
said, when we remember it in dream. And so,
as with your other tongues,
I am dreaming in it
as I descend.

Mama and the Bureaucrats

For our first post I am pleased to introduce Mael Raoult's (PZ '10) new solo track Mama and the Bureaucrats. Fresh from studying abroad for a semester in Morocco and having mastered his (count 'em!) 6th language, Mael's musical sound and lyrical content have matured to new heights. Keep an ear out for his hot sax and oud solo.

define: clutterers

clutter- 1 a confused multitude of things

2 Clutter is a term used for unwanted echoes in electronic systems, particularly in reference to radars. Such echoes are typically returned from ground, sea, rain, animals/insects, chaff and atmospheric turbulence, and can cause serious performance issues with radar systems.

clutterer- one who fills a space in a disorderly way

But mere definitions will not suffice for our purposes. We will only define ourselves through the collection of the creative products of capable minds. My hope is to allow for this site to serve as a free space to be cluttered with anything and everything we hope to share with one another. There is no order or reason, no invitation or exclusivity. This is just a space for people who know and for people who care to haphazardly piece the things that clutter the clusters and packs through which we delve. We've all heard it it before, life is a story, just a sequence of events, and we all meander through, filling them up with stuff, ultimately making us nothing more than a bunch of clutterers.. ers....ers.

Post materials can include but are not limited to: pictures, paintings, photos, preludes, songs, beats, diddies, secret diary entries, travel logs, critical essays, stream of consciousness, poetry, digital art, collages,, sketches, reviews, flow charts, gossip columns, videos, tutorials, dear abby's, advice, rants, tweets, promos, personal confessions, concepts, equations, links, stumbles, greetings, rendezvous, etc.

And so, without further ado...
